Police Arrest 10, Recover Stolen Items

Ten people have been arrested and several suspected stolen items recovered following a police operation targeting criminal activities in Areas 25 and 50 in Lilongwe.

According to Kanengo Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Macfarlen Mseteka, the arrests were made on June 21, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation launched after police received numerous complaints about thefts in the two areas. The operation led to the recovery of a plasma television and three motorcycles believed to have been stolen.

Among those arrested are Chisomo Makawa and Stephano Mbewe, who were allegedly found attempting to sell a Gatoma motorcycle without proof of ownership. Arnold Goba and Happy Mbiri were apprehended after being found in possession of a 54-inch Hisense television suspected to be stolen.

Police have also arrested four other suspects linked to multiple house break-ins. All suspects are expected to appear in court after investigations and paperwork are completed.
