Zamara Pension Administrators Limited has supported Athletics Association of Malawi with K7.5 million to enable it host this year’s Blantyre 42.195 KM Race.

The race is set to be held at 27 September in Blantyre.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, Zamara Pension Administrators Managing, Consulting and Operations Director, Yamikani Khuoge, said the support comes after organisers disclosed a K15 million funding gap needed to meet the requirements of the event.

Chairperson of the Blantyre 42.195 KM Race organising committee, Chifundo Tenthani, applauded Zamara for the contribution, saying the committee needs K55 million to meet all planned expenses.

Tenthani also expressed satisfaction with the number of athletes registering online for the race in the process of K15,000 for the 42.195-kilometre race, K10,000 for the 10-kilometre race and K5,000 for the 5-kilometre race.
