A 41 year-old man in Nkhata-Bay, Davie Mphande, is in Police custody for allegedly being found in possession of two muzzle loader firearms without permit.

According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Nkhata-Bay Police Station, Sergeant Devoter Mithi, the arrest follows a tip-off that he was possessing the said fire arms.

Police instituted intensive investigations which led to the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of the fire arms of which one was loaded by an ammunition.

Mphande will soon appear before court to answer a charge of being found in possession of fire arms without a permit.

Mphande hails from Mng’ona Village, Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhata Bay district.
