The Malawi Government has pledged to complete the Griffin Saenda Indoor Sports Complex as the Queens begin preparations for the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.

The commitment came on Monday when the Queens returned home after winning bronze at the Africa Netball Cup in Kenya and securing qualification for the World Cup.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Alfred Gangata, said government will ensure the Griffin Saenda Indoor Sports Complex is completed to support the Queens’ training and preparations for the World Cup.

Speaking on behalf of the Netball Association of Malawi President, Anastanzia Kaphale, said the facility is important because its playing surface is similar to those used in international competitions.

Meanwhile, ONE NICO Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Taweni Gondwe Xaba, said the sponsor’s support for the Queens remains a long-term commitment, with further support to be discussed as the team prepares for the World Cup.

The Queens is also engaging Zimbabwe, South Africa and Uganda for possible test matches ahead of the tournament.
