A least 50 Women from various sports Associations have completed a 5-day Sports Leadership training, an Initiative organized jointly by Malawi National Council of Sports and African Union Sports Council Region 5.
The sports Leadership training which is called Women Leadership Programme, attracted various women from various sports disciplines to equip them with leadership skills, financial management skills and events organizing skills.
Speaking with TVI after the programme, facilitator of the programme, Grace Jana Matavata, said the training will help to inspire a lot of women to take up leadership positions in their respective associations for the development of sports.
Matavata unveiled that many sports Associations are falling short of women in leadership positions hence the knowledge that women have acquired through the Programme will empower them to seek various leadership positions.
A Chess Player, Alinafe Dissi, and a Basket Ball player, Vitumbiko Munthali, a student from Mzuzu University, have commended sports Council for the Programme saying the knowledge they have gained will propel their passion in their sporting disciplines and help them do better in leadership positions.
The final session of the Programme is scheduled for July this year where the participants will graduate and receive the certificates.
